This sustainably sourced teak chest comes in a walnut finish and features four drawers with built in handles. It can be used as a dresser or sideboard. Skillfully constructed by master craftspeople in Central Java, the inspiration for this piece comes from Streamline Moderne, a 1930s style of Art Deco that incorporated clean, rounded lines and curved shapes. It brings to mind the celebrated Art Deco buildings in Singapore such as the rounded Tiong Bahru flats from the pre-war era, and the 'Black and White' homes that integrated this curved shape. It's a throwback to a part of history where designers and architects were inspired by the rapidly changing world, and whose beautiful and unique creations reflected that change.
